Kassel Enterprises Acquires Two Central Ohio Companies, Midwest Furnace and Roofing Co. and Purdy Electric

Acquisitions Further Strengthen Kassel’s Position in the Residential and Light Commercial Construction Markets

COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 21, 2018 – Today, Kassel Enterprises, Inc., a Columbus, Ohio-based private equity and real estate investment firm, announced it has acquired Midwest Furnace and Roof Co. and Purdy Electric, both based in Columbus, for an undisclosed amount.

Midwest Furnace and Roof Co. is a 100-year-old family-owned HVAC, roofing, and home remodeling contractor. The acquisition includes all real estate owned by Midwest.

Purdy Electric, founded in 1976, is an electrical contractor that provides power and light to the central Ohio area.

“The acquisition of both Purdy Electric and Midwest strengthens our position in the residential market,” said Tom Werner, chief executive officer, Kassel Enterprises, Inc. “These acquisitions serve as a counterpart to our commercial business, balancing our offering in the construction space. Our sub-contracting groups now cover all the bases – residential, light commercial and heavy commercial, and in all the primary trades.”

Purdy Electric has been consolidated under Midwest Furnace and Roof Co. Both will now operate under Midwest’s name.

"The acquisition of Midwest and Purdy allows us to provide exceptional customer service to the residential and light commercial markets,” said Aja De Los Santos, chief executive officer, Midwest Furnace and Roof Co. “I’m excited to be a part of improving upon and growing these two already established and well-positioned companies."

All employees have been retained and growth is expected. “We foresee adding five to 10 positions by the end of the year,” De Los Santos said.
